Basenji
(Listen

This link will open
in a new window.
Hello! How are you? Nice to see you! Its a nice
day. Going for a walk? The garden is lovely. Lovely smell in the air. Good day!
(May I have a word?
We Basenji types do like
to talk, you know. If it weren’t for the fact that we are above the ‘norm’ we
would most certainly talk and talk and talk and talk. We do have a lot to say,
you see. Yes, that’s right. WE HAVE A LOT TO Say; and that which we do say is
quite comical, interesting. Verbose!
What is that you say? Verbose? Well,
perhaps that is a fitting term. Hmmmmm, verbose. Yes, you are probably right. We
are probably verbose; we Basenji types. Oh, alright, verbose we are. However, at
least we have ‘something to say’. Not like many who have nought happening
upstairs; if you know what I mean.
I don’t mean to sound rude; oh, nothing would
offend me more than thinking that others find me rude. Oh, no, that wouldn’t do
at all. You see (not to put too finer point to it) we Basenji types do
find the hm, hm, ‘common folk’ rather disturbing to our otherwise fine
sensibility of character. I am a little embarrassed to say so; however; it is
true. We do hold ourselves ‘a little above the rest’. Now I’ve let the cat out
of the bag. Cat! Cat! Who said anything about cats. Oh, those dreadful creatures
with their stickiness all over them. Oh, such creatures are they. Washing and
preening, washing and preening. Do they do anything else…….?
…..I shall just
calm myself a minute. Please excuse me whilst I
settle my mind. Oh dear, I do seem to be giving away
far too much of myself this day. FAR TOO MUCH. I am
generally so refined and keep my opinions to myself.
This I most certainly do. I do not wish for you or
anybody to know me too well.
A cover-up; you say?
No, just another aspect of a finely tuned, well bred
character. Oh darn; I hate giving myself away. I
really do. NOW I’m a little cross. Yes, I’m a little
cross because you have given me up. Yes you have.
You have unsettled me and I have given away far too
much of myself. I WILL COMPOSE MYSELF and begin
again. Yes, that is what I shall do. Forgive me my
outburst. Good day!
Charming, comes to
mind as does self constraining/critiquing. There is
probably a little of the Basenji personality in most
of us. He would rather that we see him as he
projects rather than think this outward show of
refinement is a cover for a much more diverse
thinking individual. Yes, the Basenji personality is
a quick thinking, ever changing force of friskiness.
We could all do with the ability to think on our
feet as does the delightful, energetic qualities of
this versatile well favoured canine.)

Basset Hound
Fun! Lets have fun! Come on.
FUN! LETS HAVE
FUN! Come on. Fun…….!
Etcetera, etcetera., etcetera..
(Why cant we have fun? Go on; tell me. Why cant we
have fun? Isnt that a good thing to do; to have
fun? Awwwwww go on; tell me why. Go on; tell me.
Why?
And this is the personality of the beautiful Basset
Hound. He/she enjoys having fun and does not
understand why there should not be more of it. Be
patient if you have a Basset Hound personality
around you; they may not be aware of their
preponderance toward fun. They may think that
having fun is the normal state of affairs; and why
not? Why not indeed? However; this personality type
will eventually learn that life holds other
meanings. He/she will come to appreciate the
responsibilities of life eventually. Until then, we
must allow this personality to have its way. It
will not learn to appreciate the more serious
aspects of life until it has had its fill of
enjoyment. That is to say that this personality,
more than most, has an innate sense of joy. Would we
remove this state from them? We would hope not. Be
patient. Be patient and allow.
To those of you who are the Basset Hound personality
we say: Allow the joy, dear friend. Allow yourself
to be Peter Pan for as long as it takes. We can
neither change our personality nor take wing. We
must accept those things that are our innate
personality and accept the challenges that they
bring. One would think that having fun was not a
challenge to be overcome. And yet; you know of the
times when you feel that you are going overboard;
dont you? Yes my friend. You know, and so do we.
Allow your personality to have its way and, in time,
it will no longer be a problem for you. No, it will
no longer be a problem, for you will have moderated
your behaviour to allow both the fun things in life
to be yours, as well as the more serious.
Enjoy your personality, dear friend, enjoy!)

Now to take things a little more
seriously!
(Like loving and living; yeah, Id say those
things need to be taken more seriously. And what
about the times when were needed to be there
when our loved ones are in need. Yeah, Id say
those are the times that we need to take
seriously.
But seriously; dont you think that those
moments, when were needed, constitute moments
in time when all else pales into insignificance?
Yeah; Id say thats true.
I dont care for frivolity; except when its a
necessary part of circumstances. This doesnt
mean I dont enjoy having fun; far from that.
No, I mean I take things as they come. If they
come with seriousness; then I enjoy it. If they
come with fun; then I enjoy that too. What I do
say is this: I think that life should be a
serious matter taken with fun. Yeah sure; Im
having a two bet here! Thats life though, dont
you think?)

Leave
me alone.
It might seem crude. I dont mean to be rude. Its
just that love has forsaken me!
(Oh, poor little thing. Why do you cry? Why do you
tear? Why do you fear? And why do you think that
love has forsaken you?
Indeed, there are times when we can think this way.
Indeed, there are many who feel this way often; are
there not? Indeed, this is true.
Many believe that love does not exist. Many, who are
otherwise worldly and knowing, believe that love is
‘for the birds’. That is to say, my dear friends,
they scoff at love.
For those, comes a rude awakening when love enters
the playing field.
For love will enter, my friend, when you are least
expecting it.
To be sure, some may have to wait and wait and wait
for many a year for love to come a nesting; this is
true. However, for those who have the patience, it
does, and it will come.
For those ‘non-believers’ we say: Allow the truth to
unfold, dear heart.
Do not put obstacles in its way. This can, and does
prevent the appearance of love from blooming in your
garden.
Do not scoff at love, dear friend. Know that love
awaits.
It may be disguised and hard to see.
This is the beauty of love, my friend; it does not
always wear its heart on its sleeve.)

Boxer
Ho Ho Ho and a bottle of rum.
Scratch me; scratch me; here on my tum.
Ho Ho Ho lets be of good cheer.
Kiss me quick; give me a stick; a
comfy old glove.
Ho Ho Ho and what have we here; a
mistress, a master; and they are so dear!
(Indeed; this one is full of surprises; is it not.
To those who own one of these beloved animals will
know that, indeed, they have at their disposal a
very energetic, quick thinking, loving, wildly
crased animal who will go into top gear at the drop
of a hat. And this is the energy of the Boxer
personality; is it not? Indeed it is. The Boxer
personality likes to have it say/ its way and, if
not it will climb the nearest tree (metaphorically
speaking, of course). It will climb the nearest tree
to have its say and or its way.
And what is meant by this? Ill tell you. It is
geared to seek the truth of any situation. Indeed
this is true my friends. It is geared to seek not
only truth but also to shove it down as many throats
as it can reach. We jest, dear friends. It doesnt
manage to shove it down throats however, if they
were near enough they may feel the brunt of his/her
words bearing down in their direction; for the Boxer
personality likes the truth to be known. And; it
will do the very best that it can in order for the
truth to be knownThis it will, to the consternation
of all and sundry.
So, this is why the Boxer personality is somewhat
adrenalin based. It needs the truth to be out
there. It needs this so very much that there is
an almost pent up energy just waiting to be
unleashed from within its belly. The Boxer type
probably doesnt know that this energy is not the
norm. However, for those Boxer personalities (should
you be reading this) know that the energy in your
belly is not the norm. It is an energy that thrusts
you forward in life to be the high energy individual
that you are.)

Hey
gotcha. Gotcha and Im gonna keep ya.
(Well,
well, well. So you’d like to know all about me.
Yeah?
Yeah.
Well
then, I’ll tell you all about me.
I’m cute,
yeah. I know; don’t laugh. I’m cute.
Don’t
forget we’re talkin’ ’bout a handful of us blokes
who love to care.
Yep, we
love to care. There’s not too many of us sort about,
you know. Nope; not too many.
We care;
not just for those near and dear; oh no, not just
for those who love us. Nope; we have love that
extends ‘world-wide’. Indeed, we do.
You think
this is funny? You think it’s funny that we blokes
have love spare? Yeah? Well, we’re here to tell you
it’s true. We not only love those who love us; we
love everyone. With this love comes an appreciation
for those in positions that bring them harm; that
bring them a lack of joy; that bring them dread. Oh
yes; we understand the plight of the ordinary man;
we do at that.
Well, you
wanted to know, and now you do.)
